ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT


B.A. SOCIAL WORK Degree course is available at our college. It is one of the most unique course available in the Humanities stream under the Manonmaniam Sundaranar University’s Affiliated college. The course is introduced within a university's jurisdiction andit offers the local students to have a chance to access higher education without having to leave their hometown, while also providing opportunities for cultural growth within the community.


Bachelor of Arts in Social Work (BA Social Work) is an undergraduate degree program that focuses on the study of social work, its theories, and practices. The program aims to provide students with the knowledge of skills and values necessary to become ethical social workers.The field of social work is concerned with the promotion of social justice, the well-being of individuals, families, and communities, and for the enhancement of human rights. The job opportunities are varied which includes job in the governmental agencies, non-profit organisations, healthcare, schools, and private concerns.


The BA Social Work program covers a wide range of topics, including social welfare policy, human behaviour, social environment, research methods, social work practices, and field work education. Through a combination of both classroom learning and practical experience, our students gain the understanding of complexities of social problems and the ways in which social workers can work towards addressing them.


Graduates of the BA Social Work program pursue a wide range of careers in social work, such as child welfare, mental health, and aging services. It also helps the students to also choose to pursue further education in social work. The Social Work programme provides the students with the foundation they need to make in a positive manner in the lives of others and contribute more to the development of a more just society.
